Regional Medical Center (The MED): The Regional Medical Center at Memphis (commonly known as The MED) is an acute-care teaching hospital that serves a six-state region within 150 miles of Memphis, Tennessee. The MED has served as a pioneer in medical breakthroughs as well as a safety net for those who are unable to get quality health care elsewhere. The Center is known best for its cutting-edge trauma and burn centers, but is also home to 50 areas of specialty with a focus on providing patient-centric medical care and support in coping with traumatic illnesses, injuries and other high-risk medical conditions. Its most significant areas of specialty are referred to as Centers of Excellence. In addition to our trauma and burn centers, these include: wounds, high-risk obstetrics, neonatal medicine, sickle cell and HIV/AIDs. |

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is one of the worlds premier pediatric cancer research centers. Its mission is to advance cures and means of prevention for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. The Hospital's research focus and efforts are directed at understanding the molecular, genetic and chemical bases of catastrophic diseases in children; identifying cures for such diseases; and promoting their prevention. Research is focused specifically on cancers, some acquired and inherited immunodeficiencies, sickle cell disease, infectious diseases and genetic disorders. |
